Does anyone know any mixed media artists that focus on looking at flowers?
Q. I'm doing Art A Level and am having to do research on mixed media artists. My project has focused on Seaweed and then moved onto flowers. I have done both felt work and screen printing so any artists that have done that would be really good. I need to write about their work and link it to what I've done, so any help would be great! Thanks

Should I take an Internet class or a Mixed Media class?
Q. Going back to college, and I want to fit a quick class in before the summer. Unsure if I should take a Mixed Media class or an Online class through Rio Salado. What has been your experience with online/VS. Mixed Media?

A. I recommend community college courses. The tuition is less, and they have courses to accommodate various schedules. Best wishes.

how would you do a mixed media collage over divorce?
Q. i need to do a mixed media collage over a social issue for art, and i picked divorce. i'm not quite sure what kind of pictures to have, or kinds of paper and such. any ideas? we also have to include our portrait and have a water color background.

A. Do you have a digital camera or can you get access to one? Take photos of yourself perhaps looking serious and run them out to a colour laser copy as large as you can. Put yourself in the middle of a large canvas or board and around yourself cut and pictures from magazines or newspaper or images from the internet of people in conflict such as arguing, crying, turning their backs on each other etc. Before you stick them down you could paste some bits of fabric or pieces of flat wood onto the board that represent household furniture. Even large pictures of whole rooms from interior magazines. over the top of this paste you fighting couples, then fill in the rest with watercolour paint, even painting over the tops of the pictures to tie it… [cont.]

Q. Hello, I want to get the fall 07 system update for my xbox 360. I went to xbox.com and downloaded the update to my laptop but everytime i burn the update to a cd and put it in my 360...the system tells me that i have a mixed media disc in the tray. I have tried restarting the system...reburning the disc, i have tried burning the zip file, the unzipped file, and everything. Can someone please help

A. It sounds like the problem is with your burning software. Double check your settings on your burning program. Make sure you have it set to burn a data disc. If it still doesn't work you may want to try out a different burning software.

How long can mixed media art pieces last? What type of glue would be good to use for long term stick?
Q. If I were to apply fabric, manila folder pieces, buttons, or wire what type of paint or glue should I use for maximum strength and durability? What are some problems that could arise?
Asked by mile179 - Sat Jul 5 21:59:33 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It is hard to say how long they will last because the life span of all the different media you're using will vary. Your best bet is to use non-yellowing 2 part epoxy and let it dry thoroughly. Be super careful when using it or wear those tight latex gloves you can get at the drugstore then toss them afterward. I have heard that Gorilla Glue is good also but haven't used it. Obviously, lay the artwork on a flat surface when applying the mixed media to it. Good luck!! : P

How can I create a mixed media collage with watercolor and textured paper?
Q. I am interested in creating a watercolor collage. I have Bristol board and watercolor paper. Which is better? What do I use as an adhesive for the textured paper? and do I paint a glaze over the collage? or over the entire painting?
Asked by Kare E. D. - Thu Jul 16 08:50:19 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would choose Bristol Board. Yes, I would also use a glaze over it after you finish. This is a protection and also it adds another dimension to your Collage. Good luck.

What is the most popular style in art right now? Mixed media or ....?
Q. From art history, I know classical oil painting, impression art, but right now I see lots of mixed media art works in galleries.
Asked by kelvin l - Thu May 11 00:00:45 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Actually, mixed media is not a style. Mixed media is the material substance or media, like oil, acrylic, watercolor, metal, clay etc that the artist uses to create an artform like painting, sculpture, weaving, jewelry ceramics etc. Popular themes in art today often tend to be regional and if you could call Regionalism a style, then that term might work as a possibility to answer your question.

A. This is addictive, so be prepared for it to take over a lot of shelf space in your room! I would suggest looking at some magazines devoted to paper arts like Somerset Studio. This is published by Stampington, check out the web site at www.stampington.com for more information. Collect pictures, pieces of paper, fabric, ribbon, almost anything that catches your eye. Work out the shapes you want to cut from your supplies and try placing these shapes in different ways on your background before you actually glue them down. I like to use a rigid background like an inexpensive canvas that I've covered with fabric or paper or both. Try to get a theme in mind before you start gluing things in place. But, always be on the lookout for… [cont.]

Q. why might an artist choose to create a mixed media work?
Asked by Kimberly C - Mon Jul 14 17:01:39 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. mixed media offers texture and depth that often can't be gained from one media such as paint or pencil. It's often used in abstract art especially with found items such as book pages and trash as these have more meaning to them. If you look at some mixed media artists, their work is very visually interesting and has many dimensions. one of my favourites is robert rauschenberg. check out www.artchive.com for some artists
