From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Sculpture is three-dimensional artwork created by shaping or combining hard and/or plastic material, sound, and/or text and or light, commonly stone (either rock or marble), metal, glass, or wood. Some sculptures are created directly by finding or carving; others are assembled, built together and fired, welded, molded, or cast. Sculptures are often painted. A person who creates sculptures is called a sculptor. Because sculpture involves the use of materials that can be moulded or modulated, it is considered one of the plastic arts. The majority of public art is sculpture. Many sculptures together in a garden setting may be referred to as a sculpture garden. From Wikipedia under the

Asked by penginguy57 - Sun Oct 14 17:35:57 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. both are equally difficult. The chocolate has to be perfectly tempered for the pieces to harden. If there's too much humidity in a room, the sugar pieces will sweat and the chocolate may get bloom on it. Both require molds to be made for the sculpture. Most sugar sculptures are poured into a mold made of pastillage which is extremely fragile and a pain in the butt to work with. I'm by no means an artist, so something maleable like clay would be good due to it's ability to change. Marble or granite would be great for permanence, but I would probably spend a fortune as I made mistakes and had to discard entire chunks of stone. Is there middle ground? A medium that allows for creativity adn adjustment, yet in the end provides a long lasting sculpture? Asked by silverlock1974 - Mon Jul 23 06:16:08 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Please try ciment fondu. It is a grey powder like cement and when mixed with a little water turns into a paste that can be applied to foam or a chicken wire shape . When it sets it is as hard as rock and lasts forever. Google ciment fondu or search basic sculpting books for hints and tips. Go for it and good luck.
